THE FINITE
2020–2023
THE FINITE is a project combining virtual fashion design and fashion film, comprising three chapters: ZHAOJUN（朝菌）, DARK FOREST and HEAT DEATH. Through virtual fashion design, the project brings space into the expression of clothing: the scale, light and atmosphere of each environment work in dialogue with the garments’ forms, materials and movement to articulate each chapter’s design theme. Space helps shape how the garments are seen and understood, allowing fashion design to explore the finite nature of life, identity and civilisation through fully realised scenes and moving image.
Works from the project are shown on an ongoing basis at Beijing Fashion Week and Digital Fashion Week, and have also been presented at China Fashion Week, FASHIONCLASH, Neo.Fashion, Berlin Fashion Film Festival and other international platforms.
Screenings and presentations have taken place in Beijing, Taipei, London, New York, Berlin and Sacramento.

Design & Production
Created with Maya, ZBrush, CLO3D and Blender, combining garment pattern development, sculpting, retopology and manual rigging, with movement designed around the garment structure. Most production and the final film were completed in Blender.
